vs. 12 – You are chosen. If you are chosen, you are holy. Chosen – Set apart as a vessel for God to use however He wants. You are holy and beloved by God. The chosen ones should conduct themselves in a manner worthy of being chosen.
Don’t live in such a way that you bring shame and disgust to what it means to be holy. Don’t let your life degrade what it means to be a chosen one of God.
Compassion – Mercy
Live out the gospel to everyone.
Kindness – to everyone especially to those who have hurt you in some way.
We should have humility, meekness, and patience towards those who provoke you because of their lack of spiritual maturity. We should be long-suffering and patient because God is long-suffering and patient with us when we stumble, mess up, and intentionally rebel against Him.
*Does not come without consequences
*God disciplines his children for lack of self-control like a parent disciplines a child.
vs. 13 Tolerate one another. You and fellow disciples are on a journey to become mature. You are being conformed to the image of Christ. Forgive because Christ forgave us.
vs. 14 Put on love – This is the attribute that should be the sum of your whole being. Love binds all Christians.
vs. 15-17 Joy and peace are benefits of knowing Christ as our Lord and Savior.
